Introduction

This is release 2.2 of the Ulysses/SWICS Archive DVD-ROM. The archive data processing and query software have been developed by the Berne University of Applied Sciences (formerly Institute for Technology Transfer INTEC) in close collaboration with the Physikalisches Institut of the University of Bern under an ESA/PRODEX contract.

Ulysses/SWICS Archive DVD-ROM Content

This DVD-ROM conforms to the ISO specification and uses only the 8.3 file naming convention, it therefore should be equally readable on Windows or UNIX platforms. The content on the DVD-ROM is organized into the following directories:

What is new in Archive Release 2.2

This Ulysses/SWICS Archive release is a data update release. It contains new SWICS instrument data as well as a few software improvements. The following enhancements and additions have been made:

Year 2003, 2004 and 2005 Ulysses/SWICS data files in CDF/SFDU format.
Java software update for compatibility with Java SE and Java EE Ver. 5.0 SDK.
SAWeb Release 5.x supports mail server authentication and SSL/TLS connections.
Improvements of JavaScript code for SASWS Release 1.5.x.
Update of HTML and JavaScript code for archive query pages.
Adjustments of HTML code to support Mozilla FireFox browser.
Update of the SAWeb Software Administrators's Guide.
Miscellaneous documentation corrections and updates.
Internet link and mail updates as well as spelling corrections.

Current Archive Status

The archive software development for the Ulysses/SWICS data archive and retrieval applications are completed. However minor software updates and the inclusion of additional data will be carried out on a regular basis. The final archive update is to be expected in 2008, as this is the planned end of the Ulysses mission.
