Produced by:
The final products of the Hipparcos mission - the Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogues - were released in June 1997. The catalogues were constructed under the responsibility of large scientific teams collaborating with ESA. The Consortia Leaders were Dr Lennart Lindegren (Lund, Sweden: NDAC) and Professor Jean Kovalevsky (Grasse, France: FAST) together responsible for the Hipparcos Catalogue; Professor Erik Høg (Copenhagen, Denmark: TDAC) responsible for the Tycho Catalogue; and Dr Catherine Turon (Meudon, France: INCA) responsible for the Hipparcos Input Catalogue. Several research tools have been developed to facilitate access to data from the Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogues.

• Search the main Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogue (HIP or TYC id, or position) with hyperlinks to annexes, light curves, etc.
• Access the Hipparcos Intermediate Data Catalogue on-line.
• Access the Hipparcos Epoch Photometry Annex.
• Access the Hipparcos Transit Data.
• Several animations & applications, originally developed to visualise the data, also permit on-line access to the catalogues and annexes.
• Generate a sky plot for a given region, showing HIP/TYC objects, and hyperlinks to further information for each object.
• The Hipparcos Java Package is a set of java applications designed to display and retrieve data from the Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogues.

Reported Catalogue errors:
We are maintaining at this location a complete listing of all known and reported errors, covering:

• errors in the catalogue documentation
• errors in the data files (printed and/or CD-ROM)
• errors/updates in the access software on disk 1 (src, fits)
• updates to catalogue entries based on recent research
• Celestia 2000 updates.

The Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogue data are also available from the CDS [external link] , through relational database queries in Vizier [external link] , cross-identifications within SIMBAD, and data overlay in the ALADIN sky atlas. Note that the Tycho Epoch Photometry Annex B is also available from CDS. This annex is archived off-line, and is available for reasonable scientific queries. Requests for data from this annex should be sent to the CDS hot line (questions@simbad.u-strasbg.fr).

The full catalogues are also available from CDS (through the `Astronomers Bazaar' [external link] ) and mirror sites, ADC (Goddard) and NAO (Tokyo). A concise summary of the field contents is given via the CDS facility, and also when interrogating single objects using these pages: please note that these summaries should be supplemented by the detailed explanation of the contents given in Volume 1 of the printed catalogue.
