The Hipparcos Java Package
A package of java applications developed to display and retrieve data
from the Hipparcos and Tycho catalogues is available for download from
this site. This package allows users to view the "Hipparcos and
Tycho" sky in 2 and 3 dimensions, and to view data from several of
the catalogue annexes. The package incorporates some of the java
applications described below and introduces a new module - the 3dViewer
- which runs only from a users local disk. Details of the package are available here.
The Hipparcos Epoch Photometry Search facility
This on-line facility has been
developed to allow the Hipparcos epoch photometry data and light curves
to be displayed.
The Hipparcos Intermediate Data Search facility
This on-line facility has been developed to allow the intermediate astrometric data
to be displayed.
Sky Plot
To view a sky plot of the Hipparcos and Tycho stars see the Sky Plot java applet.
Hyades Movie
An mpeg movie illustrating the 3-d structure of the
Hyades cluster.
Variable Stars
You can see how a sample of 10 variable stars vary on the night sky.
Proper Motion
Examine the changing face of the night sky over time
with this animation.
Solar System Objects
An animation showing the positions and trajectories of some
minor planets observed by Hipparcos.
